What Goes Wrong Inside Your Car Door
Most customers know that their window is broken but not knowing what caused it. That matters because the repair approach and the cost depend
on which component has failed. Here is what our technicians look for.
The regulator is the mechanical arm or cable system that physically moves the glass up and down. When it fails, you will often hear a
grinding or clicking sound, or the window will move at an angle rather than straight up. Sometimes the glass drops into the door frame and
will not come back up.
The motor is the electric component that drives the regulator. If the motor fails, pressing the switch produces no movement and often no
sound at all. In some cases, you will hear a faint hum, but the glass will not move, which typically means the motor is trying, but the
regulator is jammed.
Not every stuck window is a motor or regulator problem. A faulty switch, a blown fuse, or a wiring fault can produce identical symptoms at a
fraction of the repair cost. Our technicians diagnose the actual cause at your location before recommending any repair, so you are never
paying to replace a part that was not the problem.
